True one there is lot competition in market useful about Phd student thanks for sharing
I had two one-year postdocs. They were very beneficial for my career, allowing me to get articles published and in the pipeline, and helping me broaden my networks. I think I would have had a much harder time getting my current tenure-track job without these postdocs, as I did not have much in the way of publications when I graduated. What I am seeing now is that many of the job candidates for prestigious departments are postdocs. However, I think there is still a perception that postdocs are an easy fallback option, which is actually not the case. Most are quite competitive. Those looking for postdocs will need to expand their search well beyond sociology departments, but they should also be wary of postdocs that require a lot of teaching, as these can take time away from writing.
